Most common questions from callers:

How do I purchase from your site? My retail business closed at the end of 2023 when I retired. The photos on this site are for reference only - none are for sale.
Can you identify my mineral for me? I cannot identify a mineral from photographs or from a description over the telephone. I suggest searching for "Mineral Club Directory" to find a local mineral club in your area. They will help you identify your mineral.
Do you perform appraisals for estates or charitable donations? Yes, I have performed many appraisals based on my 31+ year experience selling 83,000+ mineral specimens. I charge $875/day plus travel expenses (tolls and auto use at $0.67 per mile) with a two day minimum (1 day on site, 1 day appraisal documentation; larger collections may take more time) and provide signed/written appraisal, plus IRS Form 8283. I provide appraisals for settling estates, for donations to 501(c)(3) charities, and for estimating sale prices for settling partnership agreements. I prefer to limit appraisals to the northeastern USA, from Maine to Virginia, but am willing to travel as long as the client understands the higher cost. Note: appraisals to museums must be performed after possession is transferred to the recipient museum, in order to "freeze" the exact items donated and to prevent appraised items from "disappearing" prior to arriving at the museum.
